Around a third of young carers care for someone with a mental health condition. Many young people who care for someone with a mental health problem go identified and unsupported. Identifying these young carers may be more difficult because the illness is less visible.
Children of parents who are addicted to drugs or alcohol may experience chaotic lives which lack routine and may often worry about the safety of their parent.
Pharmacies are visited by about 1.6 million people every day in England so they are ideally positioned to identify carers of all all ages including young carers. They can therefore play a key role in the early initiation of assessment and support which can be life changing.Area of Care:
Our Retirement on Hold report highlighted some of the challenges faced by older carers and made recommendations to improve their experience now and in the future. Thank you to all the carers and Network Partners who contributed.Area of Care:
